What is Photo Chemical Machining and Wet Processing?

Photo chemical machining (PCM) is a manufacturing process to fabricate sheet metal components through controlled corrosion. This is achieved by photoresists creating a protective surface to prevent contact between etchant and the metal’s surface.

A wet process is a process where the chemical interaction occurs in the aqueous state. Wet processes that occur within PCM often have many variables that affect quality of product. The most effective PCM   equipment for a product may be dependent on the desired product and available resources. Throughout this paper, each basic wet process within PCM will be examined to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses in the range of viable equipment.
